MOON LIMITED EDITION SERIES
P-5 LE Dual-mono Preamplifier
Updated: August 2, 2005

Simaudio Ltd. brings you the MOON Limited Edition series, representing a genuine leap forward in both sonic excellence and physical appearance. The MOON P-5 LE balanced differential Dual-mono Preamplifier employs a class "A" open loop circuit topology, an exceptionally short and a capacitor-free signal path using a fully discrete "shunt to ground" gain stage. The P-5 LE produces no detectable sonic colorations.

Originally introduced in 1997, the MOON P-5 has garnered many colossal reviews and numerous awards from the global audio press including a long-standing place in the prestigious "class A" category of Stereophile Magazine's "Recommended Components" listing. During's it's illustrious life-cycle, the MOON P-5 has undergone various minor changes on occasion, either as a result of the availability of new and improved parts and/or subtle design changes, culminating in the Limited Edition version.

Unique to the LE version of the MOON P-5 is an entirely redesigned power supply that allows for an even higher level of musical reproduction than before. Superior (and more substantial), filtering, isolation, and regulation plus the addition of inductor filtering has both lowered the noise floor, and increased the channel separation. Sonically, the dynamic range is increased and music emerges from an even blacker background silence than before.

MOON Limited Edition series features include polished chrome accents, a ½" thick brushed and anodized silver faceplate, a custom 2 meter Cardas power cord and a MOON Limited Edition serial number plaque. Starting in January 2004, we will be producing 250 units of the MOON P-5 LE.

  Significant Design Features:

· An oversized outboard power supply housed in a separate matching chassis
· 8 stages of DC voltage regulation
· An exceptionally short signal path measuring only 9 inches in length from the rear panel's input to
output connectors, yielding a much faster transient response
· Fully balanced circuitry throught the entire preamplifier
· Open loop zero feedback circuit topology using absolutely no capacitors anywhere in the
  audio signal path
· Proprietary designed fully discrete "shunt to ground" gain stage employing a precision relay
network which uses only one metal film resistor at any given time (rather than a series of
resistors), for the audio signal to pass through, resulting in a gain control that doesn't
degrade sonic performance regardless of the selected setting
· J-FET input devices and MOSFET output devices
· A custom proprietary toroidal transformer design with lower magnetic, electrical and thermal loss,
yielding an improved power transfer and lower regulation factor, resulting in increased current
  speed and better dynamics
· One single-ended audio input which bypasses the gain stage to accomodate a component, such
as home-theatre processor, whose own volume control is used instead
· Accurate matching of the very finest high quality electronic components
· A symmetrical circuit design
· Pure copper circuit board tracings with extremely low impedance characteristics
· Extremely rigid chassis construction to minimize the effects of external vibrations
· Improved reliabilty through the elimination of moving parts
· Designed to be powered up at all times for optimal performance
· Low operating temperature for a longer than normal life expectancy.
